SUSTAINABILITY & QUALITY

INNOVATION IN SUSTAINABILITY

Worthen’s sustainability strategy is built upon the strong foundation of our ISO 14001 Environmental Management System to which all five of our U.S. manufacturing facilities are certified.  Our Nashua North plant has been a bluesign® System Partner since 2018.  Bluesign® is a comprehensive European-based sustainable production standard for textile and allied industries.  We use the latest production technologies and continually look for opportunities to maximize output, minimize waste, and thereby work towards our sustainability goals.

Our R&D teams are focused on “green chemistry” and a major consideration in product development is evaluating more sustainable raw materials including those that are biobased, low to no VOC content, recycled content containing, recyclable, or help facilitate the recyclability of our customers’ end products.  Worthen offers a number of products that are certified to standards such as bluesign® and Oeko-tex®.  Our business units are always eager to work with customers to develop solutions that help them achieve their sustainability goals.

CLIMATE CHANGE AND ENERGY

Worthen Industries supports the drive to a clean energy economy.  As a member of Ceres’ Business for Innovative Climate and Energy Policy (BICEP) Network, New Hampshire Businesses for Social Responsibility and Clean Energy New Hampshire, Worthen advocates for policies that support clean energy.

Worthen continually looks for opportunities to increase the energy efficiency our operations and our use of renewable energy sources.  We have rooftop solar arrays on two of our facilities, including a 1 MW array on one of our plants in New Hampshire; implement energy efficiency measures at all plants including LED lights, variable frequency drives on equipment motors, and modular chillers; and consider energy efficiency when evaluating all new equipment purchases.
